This intensive 4-day course focuses on fibre optics installation, including fibre splicing and optical fibre testing. It equips participants with essential skills and knowledge for engaging in fibre optics installations.

 

Do you want to become a qualified fibre optics engineer? Learn to correctly install fibre optic cable system in both internal and external networks. Learn industry standards specifications like EN 50173 & EN 50174. There is a big difference between vocational award and accredited awards. Vocational awards are issued by professional awarding bodies and unit of credits that are used in all vocational training awarding bodies. Accreditations don't teach you everything unlike vocational awards, they are specific, and do not meet the requirements of the ECS schemes they are only specific to a contract that you may work on.

 

  • Learn to prepare multicore cables for jointing 48-288f

  • Learn to splice correctly in external nodes/joints

  • Learn to splice patch panels

  • Learn the correct industry colour codes

  • Learn the correct procedures for installing fibre optic cables

  • Use a variety of splicing equipment from Sumitomo & Fujikura and understand the menus and the settings you should be using.

  • Learn how to test fibre optic systems against industry defined standards EN50173

  • Learn to correctly use lightsource & power meters, and OLTS

  • Correctly setup and use (OTDR) Optical Time Domain Reflectometer Viavi & Exfo

  • Identify faults within a network and explain how to correct them.

Vocational awards don't expire

Employers from our research prefer to employ technicians/engineers with a vocational award, as they know they have met the criteria set by an professional awarding body like City & Guilds.
